What To Bring When Meeting With Apartment Solutions
We are a FREE service designed to simplify the process of finding the right rental property. Our role is to ask questions and work with you to find the most suitable locations for you to visit – ones that will meet your needs as closely as possible. It is not required for you to bring anything with you to an appointment. However, if you are unsure of any information, you may choose to bring documentation that will assist you.
What To Bring When Viewing Apartments
Many communities require identification to view their apartments for security reasons. Be sure to bring a valid photo ID, preferably a driver’s license, state ID or passport. We will provide you with multiple listings, so it’s a good idea to bring a camera & notebook along with you on your visits. It may also be helpful to have measurements of any furniture you’ll be taking with you, so you know if it will fit in your new apartment. This may be something you take advantage of so that you can take a first look at the apartment, but it is advised to go and see it in person before committing to anything.
Application Fees/Deposit
- Average application fee (credit check): $30-80, non-refundable
- Some charge an administrative fee to process paperwork: $100 – $300, non-refundable
- Security deposits vary. This is security to the landlord, in case of damage to the apartment. Refundable at the end of the lease, minus any deductions for repairs / restoration. Some communities charge up to two months’ deposit;others don’t charge any. The average security deposit runs about $500
Income Requirements
Generally, rental properties ask that your gross monthly income (pre-tax) be approximately three times the market rent of the unit desired. Income should be verified by presenting paystubs for up to two months prior. Some locations may be able to research your income by calling your employer.
Credit
Though it is not required, it is a good idea to review your credit report prior to visiting rental properties. For those that aren’t from the local area, checking out your international credit report will be important so you can transfer your credit into something for our local area. Since you will need to provide information for the property to run your credit, it is helpful if you know of any possible complications that may be listed on your report ahead of time.
